Dream Builders is a show on MyArlingtonTV that highlights the ways our community is helping kids dream big, nurture their creativity, polish their skills and develop the tools they need to achieve their American Dream as young adults.
The latest Dream Builders episode focuses on First Fridays, a ministry of First United Methodist Church for 15 years. First Fridays is a program that provides an evening of respite for parents of special needs children once a month at no charge.
According to the First United Methodist Church of Arlington website, a team of volunteers provide childcare for special needs children and their siblings on the first Friday evening of the month (6-9 p.m.) while their parents enjoy a night out.
First Fridays was originally created for Arlington youth, but as the participants grew older, the First United Methodist Church opened up the ministry to kids of all ages in order to continue to give caregivers the respite care they need.
Earlier this year, the congregation at First United Methodist Church of Arlington, celebrated the Downtown church's 140th anniversary at 313 N Center St, Arlington, TX 76011.
