The 6th annual South Street Art Festival is returning to Downtown Arlington this weekend, offering visitors the change to enjoy handcrafted arts, wine and brews. The free, three-day festival, presented by Moya Art Events, is scheduled to run:
- 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12
- 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13
- 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14
Local, regional and national artists will line South Street from Elm Street to Jefferies Street, showcasing and selling one-of-a-kind, original art. South Street Art Festival features quality, affordable art in a setting where the artist and art lovers can come together, creating meaningful experiences through art.
The Levitt's only paid-ticket concert wraps up the fall concert season when Texas Health/Arlington Memorial Hospital presents Barenaked Ladies Oct. 13, featuring special guest Daphne Willis. The concert has been moved to Texas Hall at UT Arlington. Tickets are on sale now. Daphne Willis will perform her infectious, genre-defying music at 7:30 p.m. before the Barenaked Ladies take the stage at 9 p.m. The Levitt has a 24-hour information line at 817.543.4301 and a free mobile app, Levitt Arlington.
3. Food Truck Friday Lunch Series
Starting this Friday, October 12, join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department for Food Truck Lunches between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Levitt Pavilion, 100 W. Abram St. The lunch series runs every Friday from October 12-November 2. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and picnic blankets to the food truck events, as seating is limited. Fright Fest, presented by SNICKERS®, is back for select days through October 31, 2018 at Six Flags Over Texas in The American Dream City. The park will also be open this weekend for guests to enjoy their favorite coasters and attractions, including the ultimate Super-Villain thrill ride-HARLEY QUINN Spinsanity. The park's operating hours are from 11 a.m. to midnight on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of The Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of Country hits and a Number One Pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. The Oak Ridge Boys will perform at Arlington Music Hall in Downtown this Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Residents and visitors can purchase tickets online or call the box office at 817-226-4400.
Spots are still available for Arlington Parks and Recreation's Family Fun Campout this Friday, October 12! Spend quality time with your family enjoying a night of camping out in Veterans Park. Games and family entertainment provided. Activities will include tent decoration, s'mores and more! Decorate your tent and hand out treats while your kids tent or treat.

7. Mobile Pet Adoption Event at PetSmart in the Arlington Highlands
Join Arlington Animal Services for a tail-wagging, family-friendly, pet-saving community event this Saturday, October 13 at the PetSmart in the Arlington Highlands, 203 E. Interstate I-20, Suite 101, Arlington, TX 76018. Adorable, adoptable pets looking for new homes will be available at the mobile adoption unit from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for immediate adoption.
Bring the family out to enjoy the new George W. Hawkes Downtown Library this weekend, with multiple events planned for all ages! On Friday, October 12, enjoy classic rock, modern rock, country, pop, and blues tunes played in an acoustic setting by Strum & Drum at 9 p.m. Legacy 4 takes the stage at 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 13. Check out live music with Davis & Rose this Friday, October 12, 2018 at J.R. Bentley's in Downtown Arlington. The show starts at 8 p.m. On Saturday, Sweet T will perform at 8 p.m. Situated in a historic home, J.R. Bentley's has the feel of an authentic English pub and features several local and area bands throughout the year. The venue is located at 406 W Abram St, Arlington, TX 76010.
