The Stormwater Management Division of the Public Works and Transportation Department is announcing a monthly presentation program to inform our residents about Flood Safety Topics and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Methods. Topics will include flood insurance, property protection, common urban pollutants, building responsibly and much more.
Beginning in February, the Stormwater Education Specialist will provide the following presentations:
- Flood Insurance and Flood Risk - 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at the Southeast Branch Library. This presentation will explain the natural function of our floodplains and the importance of maintaining these areas, how to determine your property's flood risk and your flood insurance options.
- Protect You and Your Property from Flood Damage - 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at the Lake Arlington Branch Library. Learn how to protect you, your family and your property before, during and after a flood.
- Build Responsibly - 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at the Southwest Branch Library. This presentation will cover permit submittal requirements for both Floodplain Development permits and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans. By facilitating responsible building, residents can lesson the impact on our local waterways.
- Stormwater Pollution Prevention presentation will discuss the purpose and function of the City's storm drainage system and the way common urban pollutants enter and effect our local waterways. The presentation is set for 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Woodland West Branch Library.
