On the Clock is a show that gives residents an inside look at the hard work city employees do every day to make Arlington a better community to live, learn, work and play.
This month's episode, hosted by City Manager Trey Yelverton, gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at the Arlington Animal Services Center, located at 1000 SE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76018.
The shelter is open for pet adoptions Monday through Saturday each week. Residents can also find shelter animals available for adoption two Saturdays of each month at the PetSmart in the Arlington Highlands shopping center, 203 E Interstate 20 Hwy, Arlington, TX 76018.
Arlington Animal Services was recognized in 2017 for its positive reviews on Yelp. The shelter has garnered 4 out of 5 stars on the popular rating website and now proudly displays a "People Love Us On Yelp" sticker on its front door for all visitors to see.
During this past fiscal year, volunteers with Arlington Animal Services completed more than 14,000 hours of service. The program has grown to offer new areas for volunteerism for the shelter, as well as offering additional special training programs. Arlington Animal Services requires volunteers to complete an online registration and attend a two-hour volunteer orientation at the shelter.
The shelter offers a variety of services to Arlington residents, including pet grooming classes for youth, loss of pet grief sessions, responsible pet ownership classes and free or low-cost vaccination services. For more information, please visit the Arlington Animal Services' website.
