Congratulations to our July Volunteer of the Month, Jude Plauche.
Plauche joined the Arlington Master Composters after attending the annual Master Composter workshop in the spring of 2017.
Already an active volunteer with the Arlington Police Department's Citizens on Patrol, Plauche wanted to give more of himself to his community. He quickly began volunteering every month at the River Legacy compost site behind the Living Science Center, where he spends his time working compost piles and assisting in teaching free monthly backyard compost classes to residents who wish to learn how to compost in their own backyards. Plauche has also assisted the Environmental Programs Coordinator with teaching compost basics to students from the River Legacy Living Science Center's home school and summer camp programs.
In April, Plauche and his wife Judy were some of the featured volunteers in a Fox4 news article that highlighted Arlington's new Dog Walkers Watch program which focuses on providing extra eyes (and paws) throughout our community.
Plauche is such a hard working volunteer and his passion and dedication to his community show in everything he does. When he is not busy volunteering, Plauche enjoys traveling with his wife Judy and spending time with his six grandchildren.
