The City of Arlington has addressed more than 10,650 concerns, ranging from overgrown and debris-filled lawns to stray animals, that were reported by residents through the Ask Arlington app during the first six months of this year.
The free app, available for Android and Apple devices and on the City's website, allows users to report common code complaints to the City of Arlington or request services, such as help locating a water or sewer line. The Ask Arlington app is designed to be a convenient alternative to the Action Center hotline, 817-459-6777, which receives more than 350,000 calls a year.
Since launching last year, more than 7,376 people have downloaded the Ask Arlington app.
Between January 1, 2018, and June 30, 2018, the top 10 reported issues and requests were:
- Locate a Water or Sewer Line - 1,583
- Unkempt Property - 833
- Overgrown Weeds and Grass - 683
- Nuisance Vehicle - 671
- Streetlight Burned Out - 442
- Loose Animal - 400
- Abandoned Vehicle on Street - 431
- Barking Dog - 308
- Deceased Animal - 296
- Parking in the Yard - 283
Users can upload photos and videos to provide City departments with more information about the issue they are reporting. The Ask Arlington app also allows users to track the real-time progress of how their complaint is being handled, such as whether a notice of violation was issued.
Last year, the City of Arlington added another feature to the Ask Arlington app. People are encouraged to report acts of kindness that they perform, witness or were the recipient of through the City's Ask Arlington mobile app, on the Acts of Kindness website, or by posting on social media using #ArlingtonKindness and @CityofArlington.
