Sunday, Nov. 11 marked the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. Across Tarrant County, 66 Daughters of the American Revolution chapters commemorated the signing of the Armistice by conducted ceremonies at local cemeteries, including Arlington, to honor those who served in the Great War.
In Arlington, 34 members of the Lucretia Council Cochran Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution participated in the celebration of life for those who fought to keep America free. Wreaths furnished by the North Texas WWI Commemorative Committee were placed at 12 cemeteries throughout Arlington, in addition to one in Everman and one in Forest Hill. The Chapter members read aloud more than 600 names of WWI soldiers buried in those cemeteries and thanked for them for their service.
