United Way of Tarrant County, through its Mission United initiative, has launched TXServes-North Texas, a coordinated network of public, private and nonprofit organizations serving active duty military, veterans and their families in the North Texas region.
The new program, which was announced at Arlington City Hall on Friday, Nov. 16, will provides services for the thousands of veterans, active military and their families living in North Texas.
"The demand for veteran and military assistance is steadily rising in our community," said TD Smyers, president and CEO of United Way of Tarrant County. "The ultimate goal of TXServes-North Texas is to connect them with resources and services specific to their needs. It is our intent that this program will empower and support the men and women who serve and have served our country."
TXServes-North Texas with United Way of Tarrant County as the coordination center is the newest addition to the Institute for Veterans and Military Families" (IVMF) coordinated system, AmericaServes program. The program is expected to serve more than 2,000 annually in the North Texas Region. Currently, 385,000 active military and veterans call North Texas home. The Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex is the 17th market to launch an AmericaServes network, which is nationally transforming the ease with which veterans service members and their families" access care and services as they navigate the civilian world upon exiting the military program.
TXServes-North Texas uses a technology platform to guide those in need to the most appropriate services and resources available. Active duty, Reserve, and National Guard members as well as veterans and their families who reside in North Texas are eligible. The program supports all individuals who have worn the uniforms of our military - regardless of age, era, branch or discharge status.
