The Arlington Police Department has made three arrests in connection to the November 12, 2023 shooting death of 26-year-old Jared Jackson.
Following a thorough investigation, APD homicide detectives obtained warrants for the arrests of 23-year-old Brenton Smith, 17-year-old Jaka Livingston, and 19-year-old Ahmed Osman on Capital Murder charges.
Members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located all three suspects and took them into custody.
They were booked into the Arlington City Jail on the warrants and have since been transferred to the Tarrant County Jail where they are currently being held.
Detectives believe Mr. Smith got into a dispute with Mr. Jackson over drugs and / or money, then brought Mr. Livingston and Mr. Osman with him to Mr. Jackson’s apartment in the 1000 block of W. Arkansas Lane where they shot him.

On Sunday, November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:28 p.m., the Arlington Police Department responded to an apartment complex in the 1000 block of W. Arkansas Lane to investigate a reported shooting.
When officers arrived on scene, they located a 26-year-old man with an apparent gunshot wound lying unresponsive in front of one of the apartments. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Jared Jackson.
Based on their investigation, detectives believe the shooting may be related to high risk activity.
There were no reports of any additional injuries.
No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing and detectives are currently following up on leads.
