The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash in the 2000 block of S. Cooper Street on Sunday, February 3, 2019 around 11:29 a.m. involving a sports utility vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased on Monday, February 4, 2019 around 3:29 p.m.

Investigators believe the vehicle was traveling northbound on Cooper Street and for an unknown reason, the vehicle left the roadway and drove onto the east sidewalk parallel to the lanes where a pedestrian was walking. The vehicle impacted the pedestrian causing significant injuries.

Detectives continue to investigate the causes that led to this crash. The driver was not injured and has been cooperating with investigators. The pedestrian was an 18-year old female. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will identify the decedent once next of kin have been notified.
