The Arlington Police Department responded to a major crash in the 400 block of E. Interstate Highway 20 on Thursday, November 22, 2018 around 12:10 a.m. involving a passenger car and a pedestrian. Investigators believe that the passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound in the left lane and for an unknown reason, the pedestrian began to walk across the main lanes of I.H. 20 from the south to the north. The driver of the passenger car was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian in the left lane.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where they were later pronounced deceased. There were two occupants inside the passenger vehicle. Neither occupant were injured and are cooperating with investigators. No charges are expected at this time.
Detectives have not ruled out the possibility that the pedestrian intentionally walked into the main lanes of the highway. The identity of the deceased will be released by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office after positive identification and once next of kin have been notified.
