The Arlington Police Department responded to the 800 block of Timberlake Drive around 1:28 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2018 in reference to a 2-year old child not breathing. The child was transported to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.
Detectives have interviewed multiple individuals that were either present or arrived on scene during this incident. Two arrests were initially made for outstanding misdemeanor warrants. Shamonica Page was arrested for outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Pantego. Derick Roberson was arrested for outstanding misdemeanor warrants out of Fort Worth.
The investigation is ongoing to determine what exactly happened to the child. Preliminary information suggests this is not a death due to natural circumstances. Investigators are processing crime scenes at the residence, a vehicle, and will attend an autopsy that will determine the manner and cause of death. Detectives continue to gather evidence in this case and are working with the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney's Office, Alliance For Children, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services - Child Protective Services. There were two other children present in the home who have been released to Texas CPS. The exact relationships of the children, the decedent, and the individuals interviewed is unknown at this time.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the child as Aniyah Darnell, 2-years of age. More information will be released once it becomes available.
