Here a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

Interlochen Lights

 The Lights at Interlochen, one of the largest and longest running holiday traditions in North Texas, is back for the 2024 season. Each year, more than 200 homeowners in this northwest Arlington neighborhood celebrate the season by decorating their homes with festive lights and holiday-themed displays. Admission is free. The public is invited to drive through the neighborhood from 6 to 10 p.m. each night through Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024.

Holiday Inn

 Holiday Inn, the beloved film classic comes to the stage in a charming crowd-pleaser featuring one glorious Irving Berlin number after another, each celebrating a different festivity. It all takes place at Theatre Arlington. It airs Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. Click here for ticket information. It runs until Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024.

14th Annual Texas Christkindl Market 

One of the must-visit attractions during the Christmas season in Arlington returns with the 14th Annual Texas Christkindl Market. This traditional European-style market brings the festive charm of German Christmas markets right to the heart of Texas. Hosted by the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Texas Christkindl Market is located on the North Plaza of Globe Life Field in Arlington. The Market is open daily from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, with dates through December 23, 2024. Admission is free. Holiday in the Park

Experience enchanting holiday magic for the entire family at Holiday in the Park! Featuring musical shows, twinkling lights, holiday treats, Santa, and much more at Six Flags Over Texas. It is open select days Nov. 24 through Dec. 31, 2024. Click here to check to schedule and for ticket prices. 

The Light Park

The Light Park is a mile-long, drive-thru spectacular that has been heralded as “one of the coolest ways to brighten your holiday season”. No sleds needed, just drive through, and enjoy the show. Santa Photos 

Santa Claus is in town! He’s traveled all the way from the North Pole to spread holiday cheer and take pictures with kids of all ages at The Parks Mall at Arlington. Coca-Cola’s Christmas Classic 

Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages and Enchant Christmas are excited to introduce Coca-Cola’s Classic Christmas, a festive new immersive holiday light experience at Choctaw Stadium in Arlington that will transport guests to a world of Christmas magic. Running through Sunday, Dec. 29, 2024, Coca-Cola’s Classic Christmas at Choctaw Stadium combines the magic of Coca-Cola with the holiday expertise of Enchant, the award-winning creators of the World’s Largest Christmas Light Maze. Bug Squad: Created by Omaha Children’s Museum

Immerse yourself into an imaginative world where insects don’t just have super abilities… they are superheroes! Meet the Bug Squad this fall at River Legacy Nature Center, this visiting exhibit features talking animatronic members of the Bug Squad. Guests will learn about each of their superhero stories, super abilities, and the unique traits they use each day. It runs through Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. Walt Disney Archives Presents: Heroes & Villains, The Art of the Disney Costume and All that Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives at the Arlington Museum of Art

This will be the first time that the two collections will be exhibited at the same time by a single venue – the Arlington Museum of Art through Sunday, March 23, 2025. Together, they feature more than 300 stunning pieces spanning over 65 years. Click here for ticket information and hours. 

Through original items including ball gowns, sorcerers’ capes, a pirate’s jacket, and iconic glass slippers, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume celebrates the artistry of some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers. Included in the exhibition are costumes created by Academy Award® winners Colleen Atwood, Sandy Powell, and Tony Walton, as well as Emmy® winner Ellen Mirojnick and Emmy nominees Eduardo Castro and Penny Rose. All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives dazzles with prized pieces of jewelry and accessories. From crowns and tiaras, to watches, rings, and necklaces, this exhibition gives visitors the rare opportunity to see these iconic jewels up-close, while gaining an understanding of how integral they are to completing the ensemble and informing the character.

2024 UIL Football State Championships

Walk with a Doc (50+ yrs)

 Join volunteers and representatives from Sixty & Better to take a morning walk around the East Library and Recreation Center 10-11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024. All levels of mobility are welcome, and you will get the opportunity to speak to a doctor about developing healthier habits. Click here to register!

Afternoon Trivia (50+ yrs)

 Put your thinking cap on with MSA Insurance Advisors and compete against one another for prizes at the East Library and Recreation Center 12-1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024. The topic of the month will be random to allow for fair gameplay, and free coffee will be provided to keep you on your feet. This activity is for ages 50+. Click here to register! 

Shows at Arlington Music Hall

 The Arlington Music Hall has shows you can enjoy starting 8:00 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, it’s Asleep at the Wheel and rounding out the weekend 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, it’s Jesus y Mika Sobre El Burrito - " Jesus and Mika on the Little Donkey. Click on the event for ticket information.  

Pet Adoptions Event 

 Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at Petco (4001 W Green Oaks Blvd) in Arlington. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Spice Club

 Learn about Chocolate 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. Learn different ways to spice things up in your kitchen. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share! 

Each kit will include:

  •  Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
  •  two simple recipe suggestions;
  • Small packet of the featured spice to try.

 Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.

Carve with Me

 Create your own personalized name plate using the Carvey Machine 3-5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. The Inventables Carvey is a 3D carving machine that allows users to carve on a variety of materials to create a myriad of projects. Materials will be provided, and class is limited to first 8 in attendance for ages 13+.  

Sunday Brunch

 Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and our favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon French toast and served with maple syrup! Guests can also order off of our à la carte menu, making the Sunday Brunch a great option for families, picky eaters or those with smaller appetites. Reservations Welcomed: 817-548-5047.  

Cowboys host Buccaneers
