Arlington Museum of Art’s Three Exhibitions 

The new Arlington Museum of Art in the Entertainment District features three new exhibitions, Pompeii: The Immortal City, One Point Five Degrees, and Youth Art Month. For ticket information, click here

¡Viva La Fiesta! 

Celebrate ¡Viva La Fiesta! and enjoy delicious festive foods, live shows and more at Six Flags Over Texas. Starting April 6th through May 5th, celebrate culture and traditions with live performances of Ballet Folklórico, a Mariachi band, and DJ Aiden Brasher. The park will come alive with folk art, colorful festoons, piñatas, papel picado décor, and more!

Veritex Bank Championship

Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Arbor Day Tree Giveaway

In celebration of Arbor Day, Arlington Parks and Recreation is hosting a tree giveaway on Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Tarrant County College Southeast Campus SE07 Pavilion. Residents are invited to pick up one free tree per household on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., or when all trees have been donated.

150 trees will be available in the following species and quantities:
Cedar Elm (30)
Japanese Maple (30)
Ginkgo (30)
Bur Oak (30)
Mexican Buckeye (30)

Recognizing Common Scams 

In the digital age, scammers are getting more creative in how they try to collect and use personal data. Learn how to recognize common email, text, and employment scams at this informative session 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Southeast Branch Library. Information will be provided on how to guard personal data and secure online accounts.  No registration required.

Bye Bye Birdie at Arlington Music Hall

Dreamfest

Families can enjoy music, food, games and more at the two-day, block-party styled festival of Dreamfest scheduled to kick off 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 26 and 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Levitt Pavilion. It is free to attend. 

24K Gold Senior Prom

In honor of Arlington Parks and Recreation turning 100 years old in 2024, Arlington Parks and Recreation hosts a 24K gold Senior Prom 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at the Bob Duncan Center. Expect an evening with dinner, dancing, photo-ops, and stunning refreshments. You are encouraged to dress up and accessorize! This event is FREE for ages 50+. Final Fridays – Family History Workshops for Beginners & Beyond 

Explore how to get started researching your Family History plus tips, tricks, sources, and practical advice to keep you moving forward into your past — even as an experienced genealogist! The event takes place 4-6 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Genealogy and Local History.  In addition to the many free resources the library offers family history researchers both online and in person — such as Ancestry Library Edition, we'll explore research strategies & organizational techniques that will save you a lot of time and frustration down the road.  Then there will be a discussion about four approaches to capturing and conveying your findings to others perfect for both beginners and long-time researchers. Finally, you’ll close your time with attendees beginning or continuing their personal family history research with guidance from Arlington Public Library's Genealogy Librarian and trained volunteers from the Arlington Genealogical Society! 

Rangers host Cincinnati Reds   

Your hometown Rangers host the Cincinnati Reds for a three-game weekend set at Globe Life Field 7:05 p.m. Friday, April 26, 3:05 p.m. Saturday, April 27, and 1:35 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 2024. Ticket information can be found on the Rangers’ website

Pet Adoptions Event 

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at PetSmart at Arlington Highlands with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Red Cross Blood Drive

Help save lives and bring relief to thousands in your community by donating at this blood drive hosted by the American Red Cross in partnership with Jack and Jill of America - Arlington Sector. It takes place 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024 at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s [re]Brary Room A. Donating blood is quick and easy and donors report feeling a sense of great satisfaction after making their blood donation. Why? Because helping others in need just feels good. Silent Book Club 

The book club with no assigned reading and no pressure! They meet once a month at local spots around Arlington & Grand Prairie to read, drink, and be in community with other bookworms. Bring any book you choose, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for optional socializing just before and after our reading time. Meetup location is Nehemiah Coffee, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024. The goal is that everyone who comes will leave with at least one new detail or document about their heritage and have an idea of how to continue. No registration required.

Build Your Own Bee Hotel 

Wildlife – including bees - need places to hide, escape and rest, but habitat loss has reduced their natural options. Help them out by creating a hotel for your own backyard! Make your own bee hotel during the class to bring home and feature in your North Texas yard! This is a free event for Arlington, TX residents only.
