Arlington Museum of Art’s Three Exhibitions 

The new Arlington Museum of Art in the Entertainment District features three new exhibitions, Pompeii: The Immortal City, One Point Five Degrees, and Youth Art Month. For ticket information, click here

¡Viva La Fiesta! 

Celebrate ¡Viva La Fiesta! and enjoy delicious festive foods, live shows and more at Six Flags Over Texas. Starting April 6th through May 5th, celebrate culture and traditions with live performances of Ballet Folklórico, a Mariachi band, and DJ Aiden Brasher. The park will come alive with folk art, colorful festoons, piñatas, papel picado décor, and more!

Symphony Arlington: Joshua Brown

Symphony Arlington presents violinist Joshua Brown 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2024, at the Arlington Music Hall. Get your tickets on the organization’s website.

Heart of Texas Showcase 

The Heart of Texas Showcase, a NCAA Certified Event, arrives at AT&T Stadium from April 19 – 21. This highly anticipated event will feature a gathering of exceptional female athletes from around the region, ready to showcase their skills and compete for the championship. Over three action-packed days, the tournament will be a melting pot of talent, determination, and boundless passion for the game. Doors open at 9:15 a.m. with the event starting at 10 a.m. Tickets are available now at SeatGeek.com. All guests ages 6+ require a ticket. Free parking is available in Lot 10.

Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library as we playfully discover the world around us!  Designed for ages 1-4. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Best Apps for Seniors 

Some people never venture beyond the handful of apps that came preinstalled on their Apple, Android, or Windows device. Other people load their devices to the brim with apps they rarely if ever use. There are a handful of apps, though, that will keep you learning, growing, and sharing throughout your life. Some read books to you, others serve up daily crossword puzzles, and still others help make sure you don’t forget about any medications! Join the discussion 1-2 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Southwest Branch Library, as one of our adult librarians presents overviews of those apps and gives you a chance to share your suggestions with the class on apps you can't live without!

Tween and Teen Hour of Code

Tweens and teens ages 10-17 are invited to spend an hour learning the basics of computer science and coding. This program is ideal for those with very little to no coding experience. You’ll meet in the Explore computer lab on the 2nd floor of the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. 4:30-5:30 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024. April sessions: JavaScript and Python. While no previous coding experience is necessary, basic computer and typing skills are recommended. Registration is required.

Parents’ Night Out – Step Right Up

Enjoy a night out while we have some fun 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Dottie Lynn Recreation Center. Parents' Night Out is a great opportunity for youth to hang out after school. Get wild in our bounce house, play video and board games, and enjoy a themed craft. Dinner provided. The event is aimed for ages 5-12. Click here to register!

Miller Lite Hot Country Nights: Ernest  

Texas Live! hosts Miller Lite Hot Country Nights powered by TXU Energy. Ernest takes the stage at the Shift4 Arena with doors opening 7 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2024. The Show is free to attend but you can upgrade your concert experience. Learn more by clicking here

Friday Night Skate

Friday Night Skate is back 7-10 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Elzie Odom Athletic Center. You will have a blast skating with your friends, playing games, and participating in skating activities throughout the evening. Two slices of pizza and a 12oz drink are included. Sammy Kershaw at Arlington Music Hall

Country music legend Sammy Kershaw takes the stage at the Arlington Music Hall 8 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024. Doors open at 6 p.m. Click on the event for ticket information.  

Havana Salsa & Bachata Night 

Join in at Texas Live! for a salsa & bachata class and dance the night away. It takes place 9 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024, at Rangers Republic. The event is for those 21 years of age and older, and there is free entry. 

Spring Family Day 2024

Spring Family Day 2024 is set for April 20, 2024, and you’re invited to join in on the fun. Best of all, this event is completely free for UTA families! UTA's Office of Parent and Family Services is thrilled to partner with Follett Student Leadership Center this year to bring you an unforgettable experience. Spring Family Day is joining forces with The Big Event, UTA’s largest day of community service, to involve families in giving back to the Arlington community. Day Trip – Ennis Bluebonnet Festival

Join the Arlington Parks and Recreation Department on a trip to the Texas Bluebonnet Trails in Ennis, then head to the festival for a few hours to enjoy the vendors. The event is scheduled for 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, meeting at the Elzie Odom Athletic Center. To register for the event, click here.

Community Care Fair 

Be part of the Community Care Fair and learn about physical and mental wellness, volunteerism and becoming active in your community. Join for fun wellness activities, health & wellness organizations, services to the blind, wellness workshops, onsite health screenings, giveaways, and so much more. It takes 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center.

Workshops

  • 11am - Yoga and Meditation (sitting and standing)
  • 12pm - Spice Club (Za'atar seasoning)

Pet Adoptions Event 

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be at PetSmart at Lincoln Square with furry friends to meet 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Spice Club: Irish Cooking

Learn about Za'atar Seasoning 12-1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the East Library and Recreation Center. Learn different ways to spice things up in your kitchen. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share! 

Each kit will include:

  • Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
  • two simple recipe suggestions;
  • Small packet of the featured spice to try.

Spice of the month kits are free, but supplies are limited. Please, only one kit per household. No registration required.

Events at F6 Art Lounge 

F6 Gallery hosts Sidewalk Saturdays every 3rd Saturday starting April 20, 2024, from 1 p.m. – 9 p.m. Artist’s works on the sidewalk & Live music in F6 Art Lounge. Register on the Gallery’s website. Additional, join in at F6 Art Lounge for a fun evening with Claire Hinkle as she performs live on 7 p.m. April 20 at 7 p.m. Pre-selling tickets for $25 each while they last. Only 30 seats available.

Luau With Butch

Dallas Mavs Watch Party

Arlington Bass Classic

Due to high winds, the 11th Annual Arlington Bass Classic is rescheduled to Sunday, April 21, 2024. Registration is $100 per team (1 or 2 people) and includes Big Bass contest. One boat per team. Top 6 places paid for biggest stringer.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

  • 6:00-6:40 AM: Registration & Check-In at Richard Simpson Park
  • 6:45 AM: Pre-Tournament Meeting at Lake House
  • 6:55 AM: National Anthem
  • 7:00 AM: Tournament Starts
  • 2:30 PM: Tournament Ends, boats must be inside buoys
  • 3:00 PM: Deadline to Weigh-In, scale closed

Reminder: A current 2024 boat permit is required and can be purchased at the Kathryn Wilemon Lake House or online. The initial $20 payment is to reserve your spot. $80 balance will be due on-site Sunday, April 21, 2024 cash only. Mandatory pre-tournament meeting is at 6:45 a.m. at the Kathryn Wilemon Lake House. Feral Cat Sunday 

Arlington Animal Services is having a special Trap-Neuter-Return event for feral cats in Arlington 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 21, 2024, at the Arlington Animal Services Center. The first 20 cats to arrive between 8-9 a.m. are eligible for these free clinics. Only the first 20 Arlington feral cats will be accepted, and only one feral cat per trap. Kittens must be at least three (3) months old. Ferals must be in a trap. Learn more about the Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) program at https://www.arlingtontx.gov/tnr, or call 817-575-8131.
