With the school year winding down, it’s time to start making summer plans. For many families, that means camp. So we’ve created a list of options across The American Dream City. Register now because summer will be here before you know it.
Full-Day Camps
- Arlington Parks and Recreation is offering dozens of full-day camps this summer for children ages 5-12. Whether you want to grow your math skills, embrace your inner athlete or walk the red carpet, there is something for everyone. The themes change weekly at recreation centers across the City. - Spend ten days this summer improving your volleyball skills. UT Arlington is covering it all, from serving to setting. The camp is open to everyone between 10 and 18 years old.
- If your child is a little old for day camps but still loves adventure, give “Camp Eleven15” a try. Arlington Parks and Recreation sponsors the camp, which includes adventures at the rec centers plus field trips across the area.
- Embrace nature during “The Great Outdoors Camp” at Viridian. Arlington Parks and Recreation sponsors the week-long camp for children between 5 and 12 years old.
- Who says science lessons have to end when the school year is over? River Legacy offers a variety of nature programs for children from preschool to eighth grade. The hands-on learning classes are by split up by grade level.
- It’s a week-long “Bouncin’ Bonanza” filled with inflatable slides, jumping rides and obstacle courses. The Arlington-Mansfield YMCA is hosting the camp for children ages 6-10. The Y is also offering traditional summer camps, programs for teenagers, and overnight travel camps. Click here for a full guide. Prices are discounted for YMCA members.
- “Play and Pretend” at Theatre Arlington. This camp is geared toward younger performers. Students spend the week learning new skills and staging a performance.
- It’s engineering – for girls only. UTA is hosting “Girlgineering” camp, giving students the chance to explore STEM majors through hands-on learning and field trips. The camp is open to students in fifth through twelfth grades.
- Theatre Arlington is hosting a master class in acting, singing and dancing. Campers will spend two weeks learning new skills. The camp culminates with a performance of “Into the Woods.”
- If you child loves horses, this is the camp for you. “Camp Golden Gaits” teaches students about horses, from grooming to riding. Each student gets their own horse for the week.
Mini-Camps
- There’s a camp for everyone through Arlington Parks & Recreation. Most mini-camps run from 9:00 a.m. until noon or from 1:00-4:00 p.m. The topics range from sports to STEM. There are camps offered at each rec center across the City.
- If you have a volleyball player in the house, UTA has a camp for you. The Mavs are offering several half-day volleyball camps throughout the summer.
- Here’s your child’s chance to take the field at AT&T Stadium and learn from some of the best. The Cowboys are hosting a series of youth camps, for students in first through seventh grades. The camps feature coaching from former NFL players, exclusive merchandise and tickets to a preseason game.
- The Cowboys Cheerleaders are sharing their skills at a series of Dance Academy camps this summer. The camps are held at AT&T Stadium and are open to dancers between six and 16 years old.
