Celebrate the summer solstice with a day full of FREE fun! Arlington Parks and Recreation will host the Longest Day of Play on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at four fun-filled locations with various activities, education, and giveaways all day long! Those who are up to the challenge and attend all four events will receive a limited edition Longest Day of Play T-shirt while supplies last.

6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – S.J. Stovall Park

2800 W Sublett Rd, Arlington, TX 76017

The fun kicks off at S.J. Stovall Park where participants can energize their morning with a walk on the trail and some exercise on the outdoor fitness stations. A 30-minute outdoor yoga session will follow, and then participants will get a chance to play among the pollinators while learning about Texas plants that provide habitat for birds and butterflies! Thank you to Tarrant Regional Water District & Arlington Water for partnering with us on this session. Event is subject to change if inclement weather is present.

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Allen Bolden Swimming Pool

2800 S Center St, Arlington, TX 76014

Make a splash at Allen Bolden Pool as the second stop on our Longest Day of Play! The pool session will begin with water safety demos, and then swimming and aquatic fun to follow. The first 75 participants to enter will get to take part in the World’s Largest Swim Lesson! Guests will then have an open swim time and the opportunity to chat with the lifeguard and ask questions.

Children 5 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times while in the pool. We will have limited lifejackets, but you are welcome to bring your own. No inflatable devices are allowed. Event is subject to change if inclement weather is present.

2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Elzie Odom Athletic Center

1601 NE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006

Follow up your fun in the sun with a trip to Elzie Odom Athletic Center! Here we will have pickleball demos and the chance to play this popular and beginner-friendly paddle sport. Participants will then have a fitness and education session with a professional trainer.

6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. – East Library and Recreation Center

The final stop on our Longest Day of Play is East Library and Recreation Center for more indoor fun to finish out the evening! Enjoy a family fitness session and a game on the projector, followed by a weight room orientation. We will then have a library story time along with a craft session.
