Evan Martinez, a senior on Lamar High School’s track and field team, has been selected as the City of Arlington’s Student-Athlete of the Month for May 2024.

Martinez brought home the gold in both shotput and discus this year at the UIL Class 6A State Meet.  

“This sport has taken me places I thought I never would go,” said Martinez. “It’s allowed me to set forth my future in college, which is something that is very new to my family.”

Martinez, who has signed to throw at Kennesaw State in Georgia, will compete in the Nike Outdoor Nationals before heading off to college.
