Residents Invited to Learn More About TxDOT's Planned Interstate 20 Improvement Project from US 287 to East of South Carrier Parkway

The Texas Department of Transportation Fort Worth District is proposing to improve I-20 from US 287 to east of South Carrier Parkway including connectivity with SH 360 and PGBT/SH 161 in Tarrant and Dallas counties, Texas. As part of this project, TxDOT is holding a virtual public meeting with in-person option to gain feedback on the proposed project. The in-person meeting will be a come-and-go, open-house with no formal presentation. Project staff will be on-hand to discuss the alternatives and answer questions.

• An in-person public meeting about the proposed project is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2024, at the Hilton Garden Inn Dallas-Arlington South, 521 East Interstate 20 in Arlington.
• A virtual public meeting with a pre-recorded video presentation will be accessible on the project webpage from 10 a.m. Thursday, May 16 to 11:59 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024. Click here to visit the webpage.

The I-20 Arlington/Grand Prairie Corridor Study limits are within the cities of Arlington and Grand Prairie in Tarrant and Dallas counties. The study will evaluate connectivity and through traffic movements with the adjacent transportation network: SH 360 from Arkansas Lane to East Sublett Road/West Camp Wisdom Road and PGBT/SH 161 from Mayfield Road to Bardin Road. The study will evaluate potential alternatives to add capacity to the interstate. Additional proposed improvements would include continuous one-way frontage roads with bicycle and pedestrian accommodations; ramping improvements with auxiliary lanes; and reconstruction of interchanges and intersections. TxDOT is requesting the public’s input on the potential alternatives including the no build option, the addition of general purpose lanes, the addition of general purpose lanes with collector distributors and the addition of general purpose lanes with express lanes. The proposed improvements may, subject to final design considerations, require additional right of way and potentially displace residences and non-residential structures. The proposed project could involve construction in wetlands and action in a floodplain.

Any environmental documentation or studies, any maps and drawings showing the project location and design, tentative construction schedules, and other information regarding the proposed project are on file and available by appointment only for inspection Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at the TxDOT Fort Worth District Office at 2501 Southwest Loop 820, Fort Worth, Texas 76133 by calling (817) 370-6807. Project materials will also be available online after Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 10 a.m. at www.TxDOT.gov, keyword search: “I-20 Arlington/Grand Prairie.” These materials will also be available in hard copy form for review at the in-person option.

The virtual public meeting and in-person option will be conducted in English. If you need an interpreter or document translator because English is not your primary language or you have difficulty communicating effectively in English, one will be provided to you.
