Arlington’s Temporary Emergency Rental Assistance Program is No Longer Accepting Applications After Serving More Than 2,100 Households Since 2021
The City of Arlington Housing Authority’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program is now closed, with more than $24 million in federal funds distributed over the past two years to help thousands of individuals and families economically impacted during the COVID-19 pandemic to avoid eviction. This rental assistance also ensured landlords retained the rental income stream needed to manage their properties, and helped tenants avoid poor leasing histories and negative impacts on their credit.
Arlington’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program was a temporary program created by the US Treasury with funding provided by the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 and the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021. The City has allocated all of its funding, which was used by eligible residents for rent and utility bills, and has closed the program to new applicants. Arlington has some approved applications currently in the pipeline and will process those with the remaining dollars.
