The City of Arlington’s declaration of disaster, which restricts how people work, travel and gather in public as part of the fight against the respiratory disease, COVID-19, has been extended to April 30, 2020 to align with Governor Greg Abbott’s recent actions. Gov. Greg Abbott recently signed an executive order requiring all Texans to stay home through April 30, 2020, unless they are participating in an essential service or activity. The Arlington City Council held aspecial meeting today to vote to amend the City’s emergency ordinance which extends the declaration of disaster and authorizes amendments to bring the City’s current emergency ordinance, which outlines when Arlington residents can leave their homes for activities, work and travel that are deemed essential, in alignment with the Governor’s executive order.
