After months of thoughtful and data-informed discussions, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation board has decided it will not offer incentive bonus grants to Arlington-based nonprofits or offer a free community concert during this year’s North Texas Giving Day. Instead, the charitable endowment will shift its focus to fundraising resources designed to help ensure Arlington’s nonprofit sector receives maximum impact from the North Texas Day fundraising extravaganza.

North Texas Giving Day, the Communities Foundation of Texas’ annual fundraising event, is set for Sept. 19, 2024. Over the past 10 years, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has invested nearly $800,000 in North Texas Giving Day matching and incentive grants. In that same period, Arlington’s nonprofit sector’s participation and revenue raised from North Texas Giving Day has more than doubled, from 65 participating nonprofits raising $528,000 in 2014 to 136 nonprofits raising more than $1.2 million in 2023.

This year, the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation has underwritten a best-in-class North Texas Giving Day Toolkit, created by The Olympia Collective, that is available to nonprofits through the foundation’s website. Click here to download the toolkit.

“We are thrilled to see our goal of ensuring our local nonprofits prosper and benefit from the country’s largest regional giving day during this time,” Arlington Tomorrow Foundation Executive Director Carolyn Mentesana said. “All of us at the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation continue to encourage the nonprofit sector’s participation in North Texas Giving Day and believe the targeted and proven training provided by the Olympia Collective will ensure enhanced results for our organizations.”

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation is also awaiting the final results for its State of the Sector research survey, being completed by The University of Texas at Arlington. This survey, completed by and for the Arlington nonprofit sector, will inform the foundation board about what the Arlington-based nonprofit sector’s greatest needs are so that it can allocate resources where they are needed the most.
