Arlington City Council to Hold Public Hearing, First Reading of Proposed FY2025 Operating Budget Sept. 10, 2024

The Arlington City Council meeting is set to start at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2024.

The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber, which is located between City Hall and the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library.

The City Council will hold a public hearing and the first reading of the City's proposed $722 million Fiscal Year 2025 operating budget, which includes a recommendation for a one-cent property tax rate adjustment and increases for residents’ water rate, the garbage collection rate and stormwater fee. 

The City Council will vote on the proposed budget and tax rate after the second and final reading on Sept. 17. Proposals for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins Oct. 1, includes cost-saving measures to taxpayers while also fulfilling voter-approved amenities and shifting more funding toward public safety, street maintenance and community cleanliness.
