Welcome to Library Goes to Prom 2020, Arlington Public Library's week of virtual prom activities! Prom can be an important rite of passage for teens. Whether you wanted to go to prom, had planned to skip it or were doing something in between, many of you may be mourning this loss of a major high school milestone. That’s a normal and valid feeling! The Arlington Public Library is offering a virtual prom experience -- #LibraryGoesToProm2020 -- to help us get through this time together.
Virtual prom events give teens a space to celebrate the end of their junior or senior year of high school. Fancy (and fun!) clothes, make-up, accessories, as well as themed books, movies and virtual activities
From May 11 to 16, the Arlington Public Library will be featuring a different virtual prom-related activity each day. Check in on our website or social every day to participate in the following activities.
- Monday, May 11: Submissions begin for our Pet Prom Promenade. Since proms are virtual, you can attend with your best furry, feathery, or scaly friend! They may be your dog, cat, turtle, ferret, chicken or pet rock. The choice is entirely yours. Dress them for prom, snap a picture and DM it to the Library on Instagram. You can also email it to Ms. Mary at [email protected]. Submit your pets by 1 p.m. on Thursday to be featured!
- Tuesday, May 12: Learn how to make your own photo booth accessories.
- Wednesday, May 13: Join us online at 3 p.m. for Keys to a Healthy Relationship, a free Zoom presentation from Brighter Tomorrows facilitator Hope Harris. Click here to register ahead of time.
- Thursday, May 14: Make your own DIY duct tape accessories. And don’t forget to DM your Pet Prom Promenade pics to @ArlingtonTXLib, or email them to [email protected], by 1 p.m.!
- Friday, May 15: Enjoy our Pet Prom Promenade submissions, posted on the library’s social media (@ArlingtonTXLib).
- Saturday, May 16: Look for our virtual prom escape room, Fandom Crossing.
