Ask Arlington: Phase One of City’s Roadmap to Reopen and Recover

Today, Texas and Arlington entered phase one of the reopening process. In the latest Ask Arlington, City leaders and health experts answer your questions about what to expect as we safely reopen while working to stop the spread of coronavirus. 

What is allowed to open during phase one of the Governor's "Open Texas" order?

  • Restaurants, retail stores, movie theaters, malls and museums will open at 25% capacity
  • The Arlington Fire Department will be monitoring occupancy to keep the community safe
  • The City is also issuing signs to businesses alerting customers the business is taking steps to slow the spread of coronavirus 

How long will phase one last?

  • Arlington and Texas leaders will be closely tracking the spread of coronavirus during phase one. Governor Abbott will decide the next step May 18, 2020

Should we still wear masks and practice social distancing?

  • Yes. Arlington has not seen a dramatic increase in coronavirus cases. Masks and social distancing are crucial to keep that number from climbing.
