"Ask Arlington" is a show dedicated to answering the questions you have about what's happening in our city.

This week's show features Downtown Arlington Management Corporation President/CEO Aldo Fritz and Lyndsay Mitchell, Planning Manager for the City of Arlington, to answer your questions about Downtown development, the new Master Plan and the Abram St. Rebuild project.

In January, the City of Arlington began work on a comprehensive update designed to guide development in the Downtown and surrounding areas of the city. The new Downtown Master Plan, slated for completion this fall, will unify current projects and stakeholder visions to define a strong sense of place, while remaining responsive to the history and current needs of the area.

The third and final public meeting is set for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 19 in the [re]Brary room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library, 100 S. Center St. The two previous meetings were held at Legal Draft on May 9 and June 13, 2018.

The $26 million Abram St. Rebuild project will not only bring much-needed roadway and utilities improvements to Abram between Cooper and Collins streets. It will also add on-street parking, enhanced landscaping, public art and pedestrian amenities that aim to create a more vibrant, welcoming atmosphere for Downtown shoppers, diners and visitors.

The City of Arlington, which recently launched the Abram Street Rebuild webpage, will work closely with the Downtown Arlington Management Corporation and other community stakeholders to communicate lane closures, construction milestones and other important information.
