Library-ArlingCon

Superhero capes may not be something you typically see as standard attire at the University of Texas at Arlington, but on June 30, 2018, you will see everything from Godzilla stomping through the halls, to magical girls stopping evil by moonlight.

ArlingCon is the Arlington Public Library 's free annual pop culture convention, taking place at the E.H . Hereford University Center in conjunction with UTA Libraries, and celebrates fandoms and interests across many genres. This family-friendly event provides a welcoming and educational environment for newcomers and longtime members of the community looking to understand more about pop-culture and conventions.

The Bluebonnet Ballroom is transformed into a sprawling vendor hall, packed with local crafters, artists, authors, and vendors. Out in the exhibit hall, you can meet and mingle with local cosplay talent, special guests, and local charity costume groups like the Rebel Legion, and 501st Legion.

Be sure to catch one of our many panels happening throughout the day on the second floor, where you can learn about everything from overcoming writer 's block, to advanced cosplay techniques.

For families interested in attending, we have kid-friendly activities scheduled throughout the day. There will be special storytimes hosted by our own Arlington Public Library staff, craft sessions for kids, children 's cosplay contests, and more.

Food options at UTA include the Connection Cafe inside of the University Center, as well as many College Park restaurant options such as Panera Bread, Starbucks, Pie Five, TexDelphia and more! Additionally, J.Gilligans has generously offered a 10 percent discount on food to anyone wearing an ArlingCon wristband on June 30.
