Haneen Elsharif, senior for Lamar High School's volleyball team, has been selected as the City of Arlington's Student-Athlete of the Month for September 2017.

According to Head Coach Heather Woodman, Haneen has become a leader on the volleyball team, serving as a positive influence and role model for her teammates through hard work and charisma.

She has also excelled in school and was selected as a Richard Greene Scholar for her outstanding performance inside the classroom.

"Haneen came in my first year here as a freshman and right away, we knew there was something special about her," said Lamar Volleyball Head Coach Heather Woodman. "She is our excitement. She is our energy. She is the person who we look for anytime we are struggling because that kid always has a smile on her face."

Haneen dreams of attending The University of Texas at Arlington as a nursing student with the goal of becoming a nurse practitioner.
