Chubby Checker at Arlington Music Hall

In June of 1959, Chubby recorded "The Twist". Bernie Lowe, president of Cameo Parkway records was not initially impressed with Chubby's recording and felt it may be a "B" side at best. However, Chubby felt "The Twist" was something special and worked hard promoting the record by undertaking non-stop rounds of TV dates, interviews and live performances. 14 months later, in the summer of 1960, "The Twist" was a hit. The legendary Chubby Checker will be at the Arlington Music Hall this Friday, March 24, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. CT. Gene Watson at Arlington Music Hall

Gene Watson, one of the most masterful voices in country music today, takes the stage this Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Arlington Music Hall in Downtown. His powerful voice and multi-octave range allows him to sing some of the most challenging songs with an ease that comes from pure, natural talent as well as from his many years performing onstage. BeautyKind Unites Concert at AT&T Stadium

BeautyKind, an online retailer where consumers can shop prestige beauty brands while raising funds for charities of their choice, will be hosting a first-of-its-kind concert at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at AT&T Stadium in The American Dream City as part of their new BeautyKind Unites: Concert for Causes series. The inaugural concert to raise funds for the American Heart Association and will feature award-winning artists including Demi Lovato, The Band Perry and Jake Owen. Arlington Public Library's GEAR Robotics Tournament Kick-off

What happens when budding young engineers are given a robot and a challenge? The GEAR Tournament aims to find out. Interested students can form their teams and start practicing soon. Join Arlington Public Library at the East Arlington Branch from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, March 25 for the GEAR Robotics Tournament Kick-Off. Tournament founder Robert Acosta will be on-hand to show the new gameplay and rules featured in this year's competition. Teams will also learn about the judging process, which takes into account programming, creativity, team work, and more. The Arlington Public Library is hosting the GEAR Robotics Tournament for the third year in a row. This year's competition will be held Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in UTA's Nedderman Hall.

UT Arlington Campus Limits Music Festival

UT Arlington Campus Limits (UTACL) is a music festival for students and the public! From 4-9 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, 2017, Levitt Pavilion Arlington will come alive with music. With food trucks, yard games, and four bands up to perform, this is not just a concert, but an experience. The music festival is free for students, $10 for the general public, and $15 for VIP. The University of Texas at Arlington EXCEL Campus Activities is responsible for an array of campus programs that engage the university community in building a vibrant campus life.

Main Street Antique Junk Fest

Love antique furniture, hand-crafted jewelry and one-of-a-kind home décor? You'll find all of that and more on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Main Street Antique Junk Fest in Downtown Arlington. The outdoor flea market-style event, which will feature about a dozen vendors with antique, vintage, vintage-inspired or handmade wares, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the back lot of Collected Treasures, 406 W. Main Street.

Spring Shows at UTA Planetarium

UTA Planetarium has announced its spring schedule of shows through May 28, 2017. This lineup is featured in the latest episode of "Culture Buzz" and includes Phantom of the Universe, a new planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector which is being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
