Oakland Athletics vs. Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park in Arlington

The Texas Rangers host a division foe at Globe Life Park in Arlington for the first home weekend series of the season! Looking to rebound after a tough opening series with the Cleveland Indians, the Rangers will host the Oakland Athletics at 7:05 p.m. CT on Friday and Saturday, April 7-8 and at 2:05 p.m. CT on Sunday, April 9. Fans will enjoy a fireworks show after the game on Friday and the first 15,000 fans 14 & older will receive a TXU Energy Rangers Lightweight Jacket on Saturday. On Sunday, the Rangers will give away AT&T Rangers Umbrellas to the first 15,000 fans ages 14 & older.

Urban Union Block Party

Arlington's up-and-coming district, Urban Union, will celebrate the grand opening of 'Phase I', on April 6, 2017 during a community "Block Party" featuring local food, 'drafted' drinks, and live music from Austin Leach and other artists on the laid-back patio of Legal Draft Beer Co. Attendees will experience free samples from Sugar Bee Bakery, special discounts in store at The Sleepy Cottage, and delicious food from Salsa Limón and Chez Flo! Join Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams, Arlington Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown Arlington Management Corp. for the ribbon cutting and celebration from 4-7 p.m.

Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird at Theatre Arlington

Christopher Sergel's stage adaptation of Harper Lee's 1960 Pulitzer Prize winning novel debuts at Theatre Arlington in Downtown this Friday, April 7, 2017. The show runs through Sunday, April 23 (no show on Easter Sunday, April 16). Set in 1935 in Macomb, Alabama, the story explores the issues of race, class, courage, compassion and gender roles through the eyes of such enduring characters as Atticus Finch and his daughter, Scout. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Friday & Saturday at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Ticket prices are $23 for adults, $21 for seniors (62+), $21 for students with a valid ID and $18.50 for groups of more than 10 people.

Let's Hang On! Frankie Valli Tribute Show at Arlington Music Hall

Let's Hang On! has established itself as the preeminent Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons tribute group by combining spot-on vocals and crisp choreography with a genuine ability to entertain an audience. Let's Hang On! respectfully pays tribute to all these classic "Seasons" details while also paying tribute to the Broadway show, The Jersey Boys. This group will perform all of the Frankie Valli mega hits including: Sherry, Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like A Man, Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You, December of 1963 and Who Loves You. Jimmy Fortune at Arlington Music Hall

Jimmy Fortune has performed in all of the U.S. States, in Canadian Provinces, and in front of audiences as large as 100,000. He was part of the Statlers' annual Happy Birthday USA celebration in Staunton, Virginia, for 14 years. Jimmy and The Statler Brothers were inducted into the GMA (Gospel Music Association) Hall of Fame on October 29, 2007, and inducted into the CMA (Country Music Association) Hall of Fame in June 29, 2008.Jimmy Fortune will be at the Arlington Music Hall this Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. CT. April Pool's Day with Arlington Aquatics

Texas is #1 in the nation for child pool drownings, but these tragedies can be prevented through a combination of simple steps. Join Arlington Aquatics for their annual April Pool's Day event this Saturday, April 8, 2017 at 10 AM at Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center. You and your family will learn how to be safer around water this summer through demonstrations including a mock water rescue, hands on experience such as practice CPR and other important safety steps. You'll also receive safety resources and materials.

Spring Shows at UTA Planetarium

UTA Planetarium has announced its spring schedule of shows through May 28, 2017. This lineup is featured in the latest episode of "Culture Buzz" and includes Phantom of the Universe, a new planetarium show that unveils scientists' efforts to explore Dark Matter. The show focuses on the Large Hadron Collider, the gigantic underground particle detector which is being used to explore the inner workings of the matter. Dark Matter is invisible and we only know of its existence due to its gravitational effect. It is believed that 85 percent of the matter in the universe is Dark Matter.
