UTA Places 49 Student-Athletes on SBC Commissioner’s List

Forty-nine UT Arlington student-athletes earned sports on the Commissioner's List during the 2013-14 school year. The Sun Belt Conference announced the academic awards for student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.5 or above as well as the SBC Academic Honor Roll.
"It is the student-athlete committing themselves to graduating on time and in a timely manner," said Debbie Garcia, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Academics, Compliance and Student Welfare. "We have a great staff that is committed to helping our athletes in the classroom. Just like our coaches can train them to be successful, our staff is doing the same thing academically."
The women's track and field team led UTA with 10 student-athletes on the SBC Commissioner's List, while the men's track and field had 17 on the SBC Honor Roll. Overall, UTA had 68 athletes on the Academic Honor Roll.
The UT Arlington women's tennis team led the Mavericks overall with a 3.39 GPA and featured five student-athletes on the SBC Commissioner's List. The men's golf team was second with a 3.23, followed by men's tennis (3.22), and women's track and field (3.016).
