It's that time of year - celebrating our freedom to create our own American Dream. Here's a list of patriotic events scheduled for this holiday weekend.

Light Up Arlington!

When: Thursday, July 3; 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.;

fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.

Where: Levitt Pavilion, 100 West Abram Street

Cost: Free

Thousands of people will pack downtown Arlington for the city's number one festival and fireworks show, Light Up Arlington. This massive celebration attracts people from across the region. People will enjoy food trucks, fun and fireworks. There will be several activities for fans of all ages: face painting, petting zoo, train rides, great food and live entertainment with American Jazz Composers Orchestra and Firefall.

Arlington 4th of July Parade

When: Friday, July 4; 9:00 a.m.

Cost: Free

Head to downtown Arlington for one of the largest parades in North Texas. This annual parade begins at the corner of W. Mitchell Street and S. West Street in UT Arlington's College park District. There's free public parking, free open-seating bleachers, convenient restrooms, cool mist stations and refreshments for sale. Don't miss the kids zone featuring face-painting, games and bounce houses. An award ceremony for parade floats will be at 1 p.m. at Knapp Heritage Park, 201 W. Front Street.
