It was a chance of a lifetime for the 70 kids enjoying free airplane rides during Saturday' s Young Eagles Flight Rally sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 34 at Arlington Municipal Airport. Smiling youngsters came from around the Metroplex to learn about careers in aviation, including how to become a pilot and how to read an aeronautical chart (map). Some kids wondered what Arlington would look like from the sky, while others were curious how airplanes actually work.

Volunteer EAA pilots explained more about their airplanes, allowing young people to discover how airplanes work and safety protocols. After each flight, kids received a certificate making them an official Young Eagle. Their names have been entered into the "World' s Largest Logbook," which is on display at the EAA Air Adventure Museum in Oshkosh, WI. The logbook also can be viewed by visiting www.youngeagles.org.
