An Arlington church is celebrating its anniversary with a twist. On August 10, Koinonia Christian Church is giving back to their community with a $5,000 free gas giveaway at the Valero Gas Station located at 2501 Southeast Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76018. Beginning at 9:00 a.m., the first 200 cars at the will receive $25 worth of gas.

As gas prices creep toward $4.00 per gallon this summer, this giveaway will offer a little relief to the wallets of 200 blessed motorists. Why are they doing this? Simply put, because Koinonia believes in sharing and community.

Although it is sometimes referred to as "that church off the highway with the funny name," the meaning of "Koinonia" is significant. "Koinonia" refers to the concepts of fellowship, community, cooperation and sharing. In the Christian walk, these concepts are part of the fabric of life.

Founded in 2004 by Pastor Ronnie W. Goines, Koinonia is an authentic community of believers passionate about Jesus Christ, who connect with God through dynamic teaching, share His love with others, and live lives that translate beyond Sunday morning and weekday bible studies.

Home to over 3,000 believers, Koinonia is positively impacted by the rich diversity of members who pour their services into the church on a volunteer basis. In response to that spirit of giving that keeps the church alive, the church has identified this event as one small means of giving back. According to Pastor Ronnie Goines, "The free gas giveaway is a way for Koinonia to reach out to the community and show how much we care."

As the church prepares to celebrate 9 years of fellowship and participation in the community, all are invited to come join in worship. Koinonia Christian Church is located at 2455 SE Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, Texas 76018, near the southwest intersection of Interstate 20 and Hwy 360. Services are held every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
