Greetings,
I am Toni Kincaid and it is a privilege to serve as a member of the Arlington Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee, Inc. and chair of the Arlington MLK Day of Service.
The Arlington MLK Day of Service will start at 9 a.m. Monday, January 16, 2017. Volunteers are asked to gather at Mission Metroplex, 400 W. South St. (NEW location.)
The first 200 volunteers will receive a commemorative Arlington MLK T-shirt. We are planning to welcome hundreds of volunteers who have chosen to make a difference in the city of Arlington on this national holiday of service.
Every individual, organization or group is invited to participate. The best way to honor Dr. King is through service and volunteering. Dr. King devoted his life to advancing equality, social justice, and economic opportunity for all. He challenged us to build a more perfect union and taught us that everyone has a role to play.
Four decades later, we still have work to do to realize Dr. King's dream. The needs are great. Many Americans are hurting and government can't do it alone. We need your help.
If you know of any needs within the city of Arlington, let us know about them.
Last year, we welcomed over 480 volunteers. This year, our goal is 600. We'll have many different service opportunities available. Each volunteer is asked to serve at least two hours or more.
Individual volunteers and volunteer groups are encourage to sign up online. If you are signing up volunteers and chose not to do so online, please email names by Wednesday, January 11, 2017. Send to: [email protected]
If you have questions, please call 817-472-7963.
We are excited about the impact this MLK Day of Service will make in our community! Can we count on your help?
Make It A Day On, Not A Day Off!
Best regards,
Toni Kincaid
