Six high school students from Arlington will be receiving savings bonds and college scholarships as part of the 2007 Arlington Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration.
This week, the MLK Celebration Committee announced the winners of the “Sharing the Dream” Art and Essay competitions. The winning art design will appear on T-shirts and publicity materials for the 2007 Arlington MLK celebration. The winning essay will be read aloud during the “Sharing the Dream” Banquet, which is scheduled for Friday, Jan. 12, at the University of Texas at Arlington. All winning artwork will be on exhibit during the holiday weekend. More than 350 pieces of artwork was submitted from Arlington students. Nineteen essays were received from area high school seniors.
