Here are a few ways you can enjoy your weekend in The American Dream City. 

2024 WAC Volleyball Tournament 

The 2024 WAC Volleyball Tournament, including No 1. Seed UTA Mavs, will be hosted by UT Arlington and will be held at the College Park Center in Arlington from Thursday, Nov. 21 through Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. Click here for schedules and ticket prices. 

Walt Disney Archives Presents: Heroes & Villains, The Art of the Disney Costume and All that Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives at the Arlington Museum of Art

This will be the first time that the two collections will be exhibited at the same time by a single venue – the Arlington Museum of Art through Sunday, March 23, 2025. Together, they feature more than 300 stunning pieces spanning over 65 years. Click here for ticket information and hours. 

Through original items including ball gowns, sorcerers’ capes, a pirate’s jacket, and iconic glass slippers, Heroes & Villains: The Art of the Disney Costume celebrates the artistry of some of Hollywood’s preeminent designers. Included in the exhibition are costumes created by Academy Award® winners Colleen Atwood, Sandy Powell, and Tony Walton, as well as Emmy® winner Ellen Mirojnick and Emmy nominees Eduardo Castro and Penny Rose. All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives dazzles with prized pieces of jewelry and accessories. From crowns and tiaras, to watches, rings, and necklaces, this exhibition gives visitors the rare opportunity to see these iconic jewels up-close, while gaining an understanding of how integral they are to completing the ensemble and informing the character. 

The Light Park

The Light Park is a mile-long, drive-thru spectacular that has been heralded as “one of the coolest ways to brighten your holiday season”. No sleds needed, just drive through, and enjoy the show. Eat, drink, and watch as we electrify the night with millions of Christmas lights and festive music. Open daily until Jan. 5, 2025. Click here to learn more about tickets and times. 

Bug Squad: Created by Omaha Children’s Museum

Immerse yourself into an imaginative world where insects don’t just have super abilities… they are superheroes! Meet the Bug Squad this fall at River Legacy Nature Center, this visiting exhibit features talking animatronic members of the Bug Squad. Guests will learn about each of their superhero stories, super abilities, and the unique traits they use each day. It runs through Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. Santa Photos 

Santa Claus is in town! He’s traveled all the way from the North Pole to spread holiday cheer and take pictures with kids of all ages at The Parks Mall at Arlington. Little Explorers – Downtown Library 

Stop by The Children’s Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning.  This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills.  Join the Arlington Public Library for a playfully discover the world around us! Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library

Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. They will read books, sing songs, and have an activity after the program each week. Lunch & Learn: Diabetes - Type 1 vs. Type 2 (50+ yrs)

Creativity Corner 

Swing by the Southeast Branch Library 3-4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2024, and dive into your creativity with this school-age through teen process art program. Each week will have a theme and sensory element to offer us inspiration and guidance as you work to make an original piece of art using a wide array of supplies (including but not limited to buttons, pipe cleaners, baking soda paint, watercolors, yarn). Creativity Corner is part of our Supporting Neurodivergent Access to Programming series.  Because this program uses hot glue and some small-sized craft supplies, it is not recommended for very young children. Parents' Night Out – Nerf War

14th Annual Texas Christkindl Market 

One of the must-visit attractions during the Christmas season in Arlington returns with the 14th Annual Texas Christkindl Market. This traditional European-style market brings the festive charm of German Christmas markets right to the heart of Texas. Hosted by the Arlington Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Texas Christkindl Market is located on the North Plaza of Globe Life Field in Arlington. The Market is open daily from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm, with dates spanning November 22–24 and November 29 through December 23, 2024. The Grand Opening and Tree Lighting Ceremony will take place at 6:30 PM on November 29. Admission is free. Hoops & Health 

Hoops & Health is a dynamic basketball clinic designed to blend basketball skills development with fun fitness activities. Get ready to dribble, shoot, and sweat your way to improved athleticism and health, all while learning about basketball 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the Cliff Nelson Recreation Center. Pet Adoptions Event 

Join Arlington Animal Services mobile adoption truck will be in front of DICK'S Sporting Goods at The Parks Mall at Arlington with furry friends to meet 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024. Stop by to visit with an adoptable pet to get some pet therapy and possibly a forever friend. Cannot make it to the event? Silent Book Club 

The book club with no assigned reading and no pressure! They meet once a month at local spots around Arlington & Grand Prairie to read, drink, and be in community with other bookworms. Bring any book you choose, enjoy some refreshments, and stay for optional socializing just before and after the reading time. Meetup location is the Live! by Loews hotel located at 1600 E Randol Mill Rd, Arlington, TX 76011, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. You will meetup in the lobby and free parking is available in the Texas Live parking lot.

Serger for Beginners: Hand Warmers 

Join as you learn how to thread the serger and then take home a freshly serged project 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024, at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library’s Tinker Room. The serger is a machine that cuts and binds fabric and can be used for a variety of craft projects. Materials will be provided.  This class is limited to the first 5 in attendance and is appropriate for ages 13+.

Teens Give Back

Teens join the Arlington Public Library at the Ron Wright Lake Arlington Branch for a chance to give back to the community! The event takes place 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, 2024. Come to make seasonal cards and gifts for seniors who partake in Books on Wheels, the library's outreach service for residents who live in select senior housing facilities. Supplies will be provided. Sunday Brunch

Ventana Grille at the Tierra Verde Golf Club clubhouse is now serving brunch from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. each Sunday. Menu items include four savory Eggs Benedict entrées, Shrimp-N-Grits, Ginger Salmon, and our favorite - Napoleon's Last Meal, a buttermilk fried chicken breast over bourbon French toast and served with maple syrup! Holiday in the Park
