Bug Squad: Created by Omaha Children’s Museum
Immerse yourself into an imaginative world where insects don’t just have super abilities… they are superheroes! Meet the Bug Squad this fall at River Legacy Nature Center, this visiting exhibit features talking animatronic members of the Bug Squad. Guests will learn about each of their superhero stories, super abilities, and the unique traits they use each day. It runs through Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. Arlington MLK Four-Day Celebration
The annual Arlington Martin Luther King. Jr. “Advancing the Dream” Celebration is set for Jan. 17-20, 2025. As one of the largest celebrations in the state, this four-day event attracts thousands of Arlington-area residents each year. Little Explorers – Downtown Library
Stop by The Children’s Play Room at the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library on 10 a.m. Fridays for a morning of play-based learning. This come-and-go program will vary week-to-week as librarians explore art, math, science, engineering, and fine motor skills. Family Storytime – Southeast Branch Library
Join the Arlington Public Library’s fabulous library staff to sing, read and wiggle during storytime at the Southeast Branch Library 10:30 a.m. Fridays. This storytime is geared for ages 2-5. Fluid Art
Fluid art or pour painting with acrylic is a fun and exciting way to create beautiful abstract art 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, at Catalyst Creative Arts. You will use various colored and premixed acrylic paints on a 16 x 20 or 18 x 24-inch canvas. Our artists will instruct you through several fluid art techniques and work with you as you complete your project. Paintings will be left to dry for 72 hours at the studio and then varnished by our artist before they can be picked up. No experience necessary. Recommended for 8 years and up. All materials provided.

Arlington Pacers
Arlington Pacers is an Audiobook based book club and walking group that meets on the third Saturday of every month in one of Arlington's parks. This month, you will be walking the trails at the beautiful River Legacy Park in the Raccoon Run Parking Lot (701 NW Green Oaks Blvd, Arlington, TX 76006). Bring a water bottle, headphones, and some comfortable walking shoes! The audiobook theme this month will be Historical Fiction. You can use Libby or Hoopla to find free audiobooks through the Arlington Public Library. Read whatever you like! Just be prepared to share!
Texas Rangers Fan Fest
You’ll have a chance to celebrate the team 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025 at Globe Life Field for Texas Rangers Fan Fest. Get autographs from Rangers players and alumni, enjoy Q&A sessions with players and legends, visit our Baseball Card Show, run the bases, go deep in the Wiffle ball home run derby, and much more. The Grand Slam Team Store will also be fully stocked with Texas Rangers merchandise! Concessions will be open during Fan Fest. And parking is FREE! Wicked Threads: The Artistry of Costume in Oz AND Princess Diana: Accredited Access Exhibition at the Arlington Museum of Art
Following the release of the highly anticipated film, the Arlington Museum of Art will debut a collection of costumes from Wicked (2024) celebrating the artistry of the costume design and twenty-one years of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked. The Princess Diana: Accredited Access Exhibition will feature a collection of larger-than-life images taken by Diana’s trusted friend and Official Royal Photographer, the late Anwar Hussein, as well as his sons Samir and Zak. Each image will be accompanied by first-hand accounts of the stories behind the world-famous moments, told through an in-depth audio guide.

Spice Club
Enjoy the recipe swap 12-1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025, at the Southeast Branch Library’s Community Room. Attendees can submit a recipe and photo of the dish that they will briefly talk about at the meeting. Please email Aaron Remotigue at [email protected] for more information. At Spice Club, you will learn about a different spice every month. Attend to discover a spice and receive a take-and-make kit featuring a variety of unique spices, herbs, or blends. Check out new cookbooks and recipes or bring a favorite recipe of yours to share!
Each kit will include:
- Information about the featured spice, its history with a few facts;
- two simple recipe suggestions;
- Small packet of the featured spice to try.

Water Marbling On Silk Scarf at Catalyst Creative Arts
The Water Marbling on Silk Scarf class at Catalyst Creative Arts takes place 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2025. This addictive activity is fun for all ages! In this class, paint is applied to the surface of a special water bath. Floating the colors in our custom-built water marbling trays, combs, rakes and a stylus are used to create a one of a kind masterpiece silk scarf. The class begins with their artist giving instructions and making the first water marbled scarf to demonstrate multiple design techniques. Each person's first scarf is $48. Additional scarves per person are $30. We prepare the exact amount of material ahead of time for each class. No refunds or credits for cancellations less than 24 hours in advance or for no shows.
