Ready to get involved?

Kindergarten through fourth-grade students - begin by creating your artwork on an 8 ½ by 11-inch piece of plain white paper to show us why water is important to you – whether it’s splashing in the pool or drinking a cool glass of lemonade. You can show us how animals use water, too!
Pre-kindergarten students - please complete one of the coloring sheets from SaveArlingtonWater.com to enter the contest.

Once your masterpiece is complete, provide the following details on the back of your entry, on a separate piece of paper or email:

  • Your First Name
  •  Grade
  •  School you attend
  •  Parent or guardian’s phone number
  •  A couple of sentences to answer these questions: 1. What did you draw? 2. Why is water important in your life?

Send us a picture of your art at [email protected]. Or you can turn your entry in at any Arlington Public Library location, River Legacy Nature Center, or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center by the end of the day on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024.

We'll pick six winners (one each in pre-k - 4th grade) and announce them on the Arlington Water Facebook page on Oct. 17, 2024. Each winner and their teacher will receive an invitation to be recognized at an Arlington City Council meeting on Nov. 12, 2024. We’ll also display a poster of your work at Arlington City Hall or the Arlington Water Utilities South Service Center this fall and it may be used in our annual Water Quality Report. A poster of winning entries will also be provided for each child’s school additionally.

Ready for a splash of inspiration? Mark your calendar for Saturday, Sept. 14, and dive into the Water Awareness Through Education and Recreation (WATER) Festival, hosted by the River Legacy Nature Center.
