XFL, USFL Merge to Become United Football League; Arlington Renegades Kicks Off Season March 30, 2024

Monday, Jan. 1 marked the official announcement regarding the launch of the United Football League (the “UFL”), the premier spring football league that will result from the merger of the XFL and USFL.

As we come together to create the UFL, we can build something powerful, exciting and very cool for football fans - a spring league with lasting impact for all the players with a dream to play pro football and the ‘hardest workers in the room’ mentality to make their dreams come true,” said Dwayne Johnson, founder and CEO of Seven Bucks Companies.

The Arlington Renegades will be one of eight teams competing in the United Football League’s inaugural season, which kicks off on March 30, 2024. The Renegades will look to defend their 2023 championship under the helm of head coach Bob Stoops when the inaugural 10-game season kicks off this spring. Players will report to training camp in Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 24.

The League will be divided into two conferences: USFL and XFL. The Arlington Renegades, D.C. Defenders, San Antonio Brahmas and St. Louis Battlehawks are in the XFL Conference and the Birmingham Stallions, Houston Roughnecks (formerly the USFL’s Houston Gamblers), Memphis Showboats and Michigan Panthers are in the USFL Conference.

Russ Brandon, former President and CEO of the XFL, will lead the UFL as president and CEO. Daryl Johnston, former USFL President of Football Operations, will lead football operations.
