Two new restaurants, El Tiempo Cantina and Soy Cowboy, are now open in Arlington’s Entertainment District just in time for MLB All-Star Game festivities.
El Tiempo Cantina, a Houston-based Tex Mex restaurant, is located on the west side of Choctaw Stadium. The family-owned business has roots in Texas, where “Mama” Ninfa Laurenzo realized her dream of opening a Mexican restaurant and introduced fajitas to the United States in 1973.
“The Laurenzo family has a long history of creating unique and delicious Mexican food. Their fajitas, margaritas and fresh, hand-made tortillas are signature items on an amazing menu that will give sports fans and visitors a reason to keep coming back for more,” said Rob Matwick, executive vice president of business operations for the Rangers.
“We are excited to partner with the El Tiempo Cantina brand and welcome the Laurenzo family to the Arlington Entertainment District.”
El Tiempo is open for dinner July 1-7, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. with plans to add lunch hours on Monday, July 8 starting at 11 a.m.
Just across the street from El Tiempo, the Loews Arlington Hotel and Convention Center’s signature restaurant, Soy Cowboy, opened to the public on June 27, 2024.
The Pan-Asian concept restaurant makes a playful nod to the similarly named street in Bangkok, Thailand and comes from New York City-native and Houston-based restauranteur, Benjamin Berg of Berg Hospitality Group.
"With Soy Cowboy, we're bringing a fresh Pan-Asian concept to Arlington that blends bold flavors from across the continent with a playful Texas twist,” said Berg. “Our goal is to create a vibrant dining experience that captures the energy of Asia while incorporating ingredients sourced locally. From sizzling woks to creative cocktails, we want Soy Cowboy to be a place where guests can escape to and explore exciting tastes in a lively, welcoming atmosphere."
The menu includes a selection of shareable plates exploring classic Asian cooking techniques including traditional sushi, tempura, wok, robatayaki, hibachi and teppanyaki as well as Korean barbeque. The interior of the restaurant features an experiential design which realizes the breathtaking natural settings found in China, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Japan, providing an immersive dining experience.
