Learn More About Future Residential Trash Collection at Telephone Town Hall Meeting Set March 1, 2022
In addition to five in-person town hall meetings for each Council District, the Arlington City Council has scheduled a telephone town hall meeting on Tuesday, March 1, 2022, to provide residents with information and answer questions about the future of citywide residential trash collection.
Those who are interested in participating in the virtual town hall meeting are asked to call in at 6 p.m. to listen in for important information or to ask a question.
The participant toll-free numbers for this town hall meeting are:
- English: 888-409-5380
- Spanish: 844-881-1317
- Vietnamese: 888-410-3427
Those who want to participate can also pre-register online up until 3 p.m. March 1 to receive a phone call when the telephone town hall begins. Click here for registration information.
Residents currently set out bagged trash at the curb, which is picked up twice a week by hand and then placed into the back of a trash truck. Major solid waste operators, however, are discontinuing manual collection because of decreasing labor supply. Instead, many of these companies are relying on automated trucks that can pick up and empty trash carts using a mechanical arm to collect trash faster and safer.
Arlington already uses automated trucks for recycle service which uses wheeled bins which are picked up once a week.
Residents can find information on this topic, including Frequently Asked Questions, at www.arlingtontx.gov/trashpickup. Questions or comments can also be sent to the City by email at [email protected].
