Head out to Arlington’s Entertainment District on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, for the inaugural Texas Veterans Day Parade, which will feature live music, a helicopter flyover, a patriotic drone show near Globe Life Field and much more.

The parade, organized by the Texas Veterans Day Parade in Arlington Foundation and sponsored by the City of Arlington, will start with a musical prelude at 3:30 p.m. and a flyover by Bell Helicopter at approximately 4 p.m. The parade route will start to the east of the Randol Mill Road and Ballpark Way intersection. The route will then proceed west on the north side of Choctaw Stadium, loop around Texas Rangers Sienna Lot M following Nolan Ryan Expressway, AT&T Way and Pennant Drive, and then proceed north of AT&T Way to end near the Sheraton Arlington Hotel. The parade route includes the site of the future National Medal of Honor Museum, which will open in March 2025. The parade’s grand marshal is Major General Patrick Henry Brady, a retired U.S. Army officer who received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions in Vietnam. “The inaugural Veterans Day Parade is yet another testament to our community’s deep-rooted respect and gratitude for the brave men and women who have served our country. Arlington has a long history of supporting its veterans, and this parade is a wonderful opportunity for us to come together to honor their sacrifices and celebrate their contributions to our nation,” Arlington Mayor Jim Ross said.

Parade Organizer Kevin Donovan said the goal of free, family-friendly event is to “bring the community together to honor Texas veterans and boost the spirit of patriotism in The American Dream City.”

Participants can enjoy Sky Element’s drone show at 6 p.m. in the parking lot east of Globe Life Field, an induction ceremony with inductees from every U.S. military branch, and live music at Texas Live! that will begin at 7 p.m.

The master of ceremonies will be Texas actor and Marine Corps veteran Barry Corbin, who starred in the television series “Northern Exposure,” “Yellowstone” and “Tulsa King,” and feature films “Urban Cowboy,” Lonesome Dove” and “No Country for Old Men.” Corbin will provide commentary from the reviewing stand on the north side of Choctaw Stadium.

Approximately 100 parade entries are expected to participate in this year’s event, including the Arrowhead Military Vehicle Preservation Association, the Medal of Honor Museum, bands from all Arlington high schools, the 1st Calvary Division Band from Fort Cavazos, ROTC units from Texas Tech and Baylor University, The University of Texas at Arlington Maverick Battalion Color Guard and local military units.

The Arlington Tomorrow Foundation provided the parade with a $50,000 grant.
