TxDOT: Northbound, Southbound I-820 Closures Announced for Overnight Jan. 11, 2025

Want to stay in the know about the Texas Department of Transportation's Southeast Connector Project and how construction activity may affect your commute? Each Friday, the City of Arlington will share the latest information about the $2.1 billion project, which will rebuild and widen approximately 16 miles of I-20 from Forest Hill Drive to Little Road, I-820 from I-20 to Brentwood Stair Road, and US 287 from Bishop Street to Sublett Road. This project is expected to be complete by 2027. 

 Residents can also add their contact information on the Southeast Connector Project website to receive updates directly via text or email. 

When complete, the Southeast Connector Project will tie in the east and southeast part of Tarrant County to the central part of the county while relieving congestion, increasing safety and improving efficiency for the entire Metroplex.

Please note: Speed limits are now reduced to 55 mph within the entire corridor.  

Main Lanes   

I-820 Northbound 

• Ramp Closure: Northbound I-820 exit ramp to Meadowbrook Drive closed Jan. 20, 2025 - March 1, 2025.
• Left lane closed on Northbound I-820 at Ramey Street overnight Jan. 20, 2025 - Jan. 30, 2025.

I-820 Southbound

• Highway Closure: Southbound I-820 closed at Ramey Street overnight Jan. 25, 2025 - Jan. 30, 2025.
• Ramp Closure: Southbound I-820 entrance ramp from Rosedale Street closed overnight Jan. 25, 2025 - Jan. 30, 2025.

I-20 Eastbound

• Multiple left lanes closed on Eastbound I-20 at Bowman Springs Road overnight Jan. 30, 2025 - Feb. 1, 2025.
• Multiple right lanes closed on Eastbound I-20 at Bowman Springs Road overnight Feb. 3, 2025 - Feb. 5, 2025.

I-20 Westbound

• Interchange Ramp Closure: Westbound I-20 ramp to northbound I-820/ US 287 closed overnight Jan. 28, 2025.
• Multiple right lanes closed on Westbound I-20 at Bowman Springs Road overnight Jan. 27, 2025.
