The Lake Arlington Native Plant and Pollinator Garden has recently earned the Texan by Nature Certification for its conservation efforts. Located at 5500 Lake Arlington Drive, the site is a 2.75-acre demonstration garden and wildflower field, developed in partnership between Arlington Water Utilities and Tarrant Regional Water District.

Texan by Nature (TxN) unites conservation and business leaders who believe Texas’ prosperity is dependent on the conservation of its natural resources. TxN, founded by former First Lady Laura Bush, acts as an accelerator for conservation groups and a strategic partner for business. TxN supports 160+ conservation organizations and has accelerated projects and programs that have impacted 7 million-plus people, 20 million acres, and all of Texas’ 254 counties. The TxN Certification recognizes meaningful conservation efforts that engage people, support prosperity, and protect natural resources.

The Lake Arlington Native Plant and Pollinator Garden’s TxN Certification is a significant milestone in its mission to promote water conservation. Through partnerships and community collaboration, the garden aims to educate the public about native plant landscapes and foster local expertise in sustainable, environmentally friendly landscaping practices.

 Recent accomplishments include:

  •  Regularly scheduled volunteer days
  • Establishment of the Adopt-a-Bed program
  • Expansion of the garden’s free programs to attract more residents

Certified projects are showcased on the TxN‘s website and social media channels as successful models for others to learn from and recreate. To learn more about the Garden’s Texan by Nature Certification, visit https://texanbynature.org/projects/lake-arlington-native-plant-and-pollinator-garden/.
