To recognize youth who are spreading kindness throughout The American Dream City, Arlington's Community Relations Commission has partnered with local businesses and launched a program that rewards students for their kind hearts.

During a pep rally on Friday, April 12 at Gunn Junior High School in Arlington, the Commission surprised 7th graders Jessica Davies and Oswaldo Montano and 8th graders Kierra Brice and Luis Vargas Hernandez with a pair of premium Rangers tickets each.

The Commission then announced that Brenda Estrada’s 7th grade class and Mr. Thompson’s 5th period class would receive Chick-Fil-A catered ice-skating parties at Parks Mall because of the acts of kindness they had performed during the school year.

Additionally, 7th grade teachers Brenda Estrada and Jandee King and 8th grade teachers Lisa Gonzalez and Coach Faris Wade were recognized with gift cards donated by Prince Lebanese Grill.

The Community Relations Commission has been working to promote acts of kindness among our residents, visitors and business community since Mayor Jeff Williams announced the Kindness Initiative in 2017. People are encouraged to report acts of kindness that they perform, witness or were the recipient of through the City's Ask Arlington mobile app, on the Acts of Kindness website, or by posting on social media using #ArlingtonKindness and @CityofArlington.
