The City and the Arlington Economic Development Corporation (EDC) are partnering with SCORE to provide up to 18 Arlington business owners the opportunity to participate in a series of tailored workshops to advance their company’s growth. The program will consist of six classes covering topics like developing a business plan, sales and marketing, utilizing social media, financials and more. Cohort members will also attend three one-on-one mentoring sessions with a SCORE representative as part of the program.

“Small businesses are the cornerstone of innovation, economic growth and community strength,” said Bob Sifferman, district director of SCORE North Texas.

“The City and its EDC are leaders in growing their small business community and SCORE is honored to partner with them in providing an in-depth Cohort training session covering topics from business planning to financing and hiring practices,” said Sifferman.

SCORE, a nonprofit organization, is the nation’s largest network of volunteer, expert business mentors and is dedicated to helping small businesses plan, launch, manage and grow. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Association (SBA), which administers a Congressional grant to provide funding to the organization.

“Arlington is a city of 400,000 residents, so we’re painting with a big brush to include and involve as many small business start-ups and prospective entrepreneurs as we can. This is one of several small businesses resources offered by the City,” said Marty Wieder, executive director of the Arlington EDC.

“SCORE’s cohort will point businesses to resources they need depending on the status of their enterprises and link them to mentors who have done something similar or owned a comparable business,” Wieder said.
Applications for the City of Arlington | Score 2024 Cohort Partnership are open June 4-28, 2024. The program will begin the week of July 22, 2024.
