Chase Consumer Banking CEO, Sam Houston Graduate Thasunda Duckett Matches Mayor’s $2,500 Donation to Mission Arlington

Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams’ Meals for a Mission social media challenge continues to elicit strong support from the Arlington community for our many great local restaurants.

Thasunda Brown Duckett, CEO of Chase Consumer Banking and a Sam Houston High School graduate, is thankful for her strong ties to The American Dream City and now she’s paying it forward with an incredible act of kindness. As the founder of the Otis and Rosie Brown Foundation, the organization has agreed to match Mayor Williams’ $2,500 donation to Mission Arlington as part of his Meals for a Mission challenge. Mayor’s donation was also generously matched by Jim Spaniolo, former president of the University of Texas at Arlington, and his wife, Sue.

Thasunda Brown Duckett continues to make a substantial impact on the Arlington community. Duckett was the largest individual donor to the George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. The Otis and Rosie Brown Living Room on the library's first floor is named in honor of Duckett's parents.

Duckett became the CEO of JPMorgan Chase's consumer banking division in late September 2016, the first African-American to hold that job at the nation's largest bank by assets. Click here to read and watch her American Dream Chapter story. 

Mayor Williams announced Friday, March 27, 2020, he would donate up to $2,500 to Mission Arlington/Mission Metroplex for the first 100 photos that residents uploaded to the City’s Facebook page featuring a to-go order or a delivery order purchased from an Arlington restaurant. Hundreds of submissions have since poured in to us - a heartwarming display of love for our businesses and for a long-serving charitable organization helping our community’s most vulnerable.
