Budget and Business Plan

The City of Arlington was recently recognized by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2025 budget, receiving GFOA’s Distinguished Budget Presentation Award.

This is the 39th year in a row, that the City of Arlington has received this award. This year, Arlington’s budget also received a special recognition for our Long-term Financial Forecast and our Financial Policies, highlighting the city’s strong financial planning and management.

These awards reflect the City’s commitment to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the budget award, the City of Arlington had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well an entity's budget serves as:

  • A policy document
  • A financial plan
  • An operations guide
  • A communications device

Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories, and in the fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.
