On this episode of Arlington Eats on MyArlingtonTV, host Jeremy Thomas visits The Breakfast Brothers, where they are serving gourmet all-day breakfast and feeding the soul.

“If you can make someone happy with food, The Breakfast Brothers is where we feed the soul,” co-owner Rickey Booker said. “You got southern cooking and you got soul food. If it’s authentic soul food, you feed their soul.”

Five years ago, Booker and his business partner started to serve food out of a little black trailer behind their DFW nightclub. They built a brand and a following. From there, they rented out kitchens AND had a food truck too before finding their first location off at 130 E. Bardin Road in Arlington that opened in January 2021 during a COVID-19 surge.

“We said we need to get a brick-and-mortar to where it made sense to do take out and curbside at the time, and we found this location,” Booker said. “We weren’t really looking at the dine-in type element. It outgrew itself in the first week it opened.”

Creating an addictive and consistent taste is a top priority. They even allow customers to test their homemade creations before going on the menu permanently like catfish and grits, waffle tacos or just old-fashioned buttermilk pancakes and French toast.

“Probably 80 percent of the menu but the other 20 percent is lunch and dinner too, as well,” Booker said. “You can get any of those elements any time of the day between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. We came up with lambchop and eggs. Chicken and waffles are a go-to. It’s quick and simple. Not only that we have a red velvet waffle, too.”

From receiving recognition from Pepsi, to the Dallas Cowboys and more, they’re living out their dream, right here in The American Dream City.

"From generations to generations to where it comes to food, with black owned businesses, that’s why I got into cooking," Booker explained. "My grandmother, aunts, my mother, her sisters my background comes from good cooks. Being a black-owned business, being in this pipeline are a blessing. Arlington has been good to us and the first Breakfast Brothers. I think I lived in the Arlington/Mansfield area for about 19 years. Arlington is a city that’s growing. If you can just come in an experience the vibe, the food and music, I want you to be able to when you get through eating, you don’t want to go. You want to sit, and it’s like being at grandma’s house.”

Booker said they have plans to open a second location in DFW in the coming months. You can find their operating hours in Arlington on their Facebook page
